About the race
The World's Toughest Row, Atlantic Challenge traverses 3000 miles from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain (28N 18W) to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua (17N 61W).
The annual race begins in early December and attracts teams from around the world. Meeting in La Gomera two weeks prior to race start, participants undergo mandatory inspections and safety seminars and use their time there to re-pack and finalize preparations for their boats. The atmosphere in the Race Village is electric as the athletes cheer each other on before pushing off to take on the mighty Atlantic Ocean. No matter what their mission is, all the participants share the same desire – to live out the unique experience of crossing an ocean in a rowing boat.
